Group Tours
Group Tours are the main product on the site. Each one is a suggested itinerary that any group organiser can ask us to tailor for their group.
Group Tours have no fixed departure date. The date is set when a group books, and the tour then becomes a Tailored Tour.
This section explains what is on a Group Tour page and how each part should be written. Every block has its own page, listed in the order a reader meets them on a phone. Each page ends with a Decision log: what was decided, why, and who asked for it, including John’s feedback.
The Group Tours listing
Section titled “The Group Tours listing”There is one listing page, Tours for Groups, at /tours-for-groups/. It shows every tour, grouped by destination.
You do not edit the listing. It builds itself from the tour pages beneath it. A tour appears under a destination because of the Destinations field on the tour. See Destinations.

The sections, in order
Section titled “The sections, in order”Every Group Tour has its sections in this order:
- Suggested Itinerary, day by day
- Features: what the price includes
- Tailor your Features: how the group could change what is included
- Sights: the main places the tour visits
- Tailor your Sights: other places the group could visit instead
- Accommodation: where the group stays
- Tailor your accommodation: tours outside the UK only, and being removed at John’s request
- Extras: costs on top of the tour price
Each “Tailor your…” section belongs to the section above it. Its heading is a little smaller to show that.
Sights has come before Accommodation since 27 September 2026, at John’s request.
The In this page list
Section titled “The In this page list”The In this page box in the left column lets readers jump to a section. On a Group Tour it lists five: Suggested Itinerary, Features, Sights, Accommodation and Extras. The “Tailor your…” sections are left out on purpose.
You choose which sections appear by picking them in the block.
The list also stays empty until the page has been published once.
The tour details

New tours start from the blueprint
Section titled “New tours start from the blueprint”A new Group Tour is created from the Group Tour Blueprint, so it starts with every section above already in place and in the right order.
When a change is made to every tour, the developer also makes it to the blueprint, so new tours come out matching the rest.
Changes made to every tour
Section titled “Changes made to every tour”Some changes are made to all 121 tours at once by the developer, rather than by hand. Recent ones:

Portugal’s Douro River is a river cruise, so parts of it are written as a paragraph rather than a list. Its sections are in the same order as every other tour.
