Step 6: Give Access to the Tour

Tailored Tour pages are private. A visitor cannot see one unless they log in with their Online Tour Reference.

To make that work, you create one member for the tour and link it to the tour page.

One tour = one member = one tour page. Everyone on that tour uses the same reference. That is normal — it identifies the tour, not the person.

  1. Go to the Members section.
  2. Click Create, then choose Member - Tailored Tour.
  3. Fill in the form:
Field What to enter
Name The Online Tour Reference, e.g. rchd271
Username The Online Tour Reference again, e.g. rchd271
Email TTM####@tailored-travel.co.uk — e.g. TTM5171@tailored-travel.co.uk
Password Tailored Travel
Confirm password Tailored Travel
Approved Turn this on
Member Group Tailored Tours
  1. Open the Member Tour Page field and pick this tour’s page.
  2. Save.

Approved must be on. If it is off, the reference will not log anyone in and the page will look empty. This is the most common mistake.

The password is always Tailored Travel. It is the same for every tour. Visitors never type it — it only exists because the form requires one.

The member alone does not protect the page. You also need to restrict the page to that member.

  1. Go to the tour page in Content.
  2. Open the … menu, then Public Access.
  3. Choose Specific members protection.
  4. Add the member you just created.
  5. Set both Login Page and Error Page to the Tailored Tours landing page.
  6. Save.
  1. Open the tour page in a private or incognito browser window.
  2. You should be sent to the Tailored Tours page with the login form.
  3. Enter the Online Tour Reference and submit.
  4. You should land on the tour page with all its content showing.

If the page looks empty after logging in, the member is almost certainly not Approved. Go back and turn it on.
