Individual Tours

An individual tour is led by a named individual — a lecturer, musician or specialist — rather than sold to a society.

Because there is no society behind it, there is usually no organiser and no login code. Some of these brochures carry no View Your Tour footer at all, so those tours need no member and no access protection. Anyone can read the page.

Unlike a tailored tour, an individual tour can have more than one departure date.

Not yet, in the backoffice

The page currently gives you a single Departure Date field, so only one date can be recorded. Being able to add several is planned work, and it is needed before the Oberammergau tours arrive. Until then, extra dates have to go in the page text.

How to recognise one

The tour is named after the person leading it, or their name appears prominently on the brochure. Examples from the brochures waiting to be added: Peter Medhurst Vienna, Clive Hooper Bavaria, Anthony Weldon Isle of Wight.

This page type is still settling down

There is currently one individual tour on the site: The History and Art of Madrid Toledo Avila Salamanca and Segovia. It was a first attempt, built to try the shape out.

Check before you create one

This page type was copied from the tailored tour type as a starting point, so it still shows some fields it does not really need — the organiser section in particular. It also has no field for the name and biography of the person leading the tour, which is the thing that actually defines it.

Those decisions have not been made yet. Ask before creating a new individual tour page, rather than working around the fields that look wrong.

The rest are waiting

Fifteen more individual tours are recorded as waiting to be added. They are deliberately kept out of the normal tour queue so that “which tour is next” never picks one up by accident.
